Those that have studied Gann’s courses and books, and applied the methods to actual trading will be aware of the precise results that can be achieved. They will also likely be aware that there is much more that has been not revealed in these courses. The marketing of these courses has often alluded to the "mysterious" and "secret" methods that Gann used being revealed in these courses. Consequently this misrepresentation of Gann’s methods has often resulted in discrediting Gann analysis by those who have not been successful in applying these methods.

What Gann did not make available in his courses was the information that is of most use. This information is not "secret" as it is revealed in other of his various works but in such a vague manner that it eludes all but the most thorough of examinations. It is apparent his intention was that the concepts described in his courses were to be used in conjunction with other precise information that he detailed in other of his works.

In his courses he detailed how to apply the one year cycle , which is familiar to traders using Gann's methods, although he did state that this was a minor cycle. Those that have used this cycle in their trading will know its predictive value and also its limitations. He left very little information on the other more powerful cycles. He stated to watch for turns in the 42 to 43 month. There are a number of cycles that culminate in the 41st to 43rd month that can be calculated to the exact day by using the most important cycles. By using these same cycles applied to "PRICE", exact price levels can also be known in advance at where a market is likely to reverse. Gann detailed information on only the minor cycles and gave a general outline of the concepts used to obtain his results without including the most important information in his stock and commodity courses.

The key cycles that Gann intended to be used with the methods described in his courses are present in all aspects of market movements. They can be found not only in "Time and Price" in financial markets, but also, as Gann stated......."everything works according to past cycles, and that history repeats itself in the lives of men, nations and the stock market". Knowledge of these cycles enables calculation of the price levels where a market can reverse and on what date reversals are likely to occur at.
